Liverpool City Council - youth service

Youth Service and youth support

The Youth Service aims to provide Liverpool's young people with as many opportunities as possible to bring  enrichment to their lives.

We place particular emphasis on securing services for those young people who have had least benefit from the education system.

We provide a variety of programmes and opportunities that are either educational or recreational in nature.

In order to be effective, however, we make sure that these opportunities are:

  • responsive to the needs of young people;
  • within easy travelling distance;
  • stimulating and exciting;
  • affordable;
  • good quality.

The service works in partnership with other agencies including the following:

  • voluntary organisations;
  • Greater Merseyside Connexions Partnership;
  • the police;
  • Liverpool's Youth Offending Team (Y O T);
  • Citysafe.

Each year the Youth Service presents a plan which is put together after consultation. It takes account of the following considerations:

  • Any progress which was made on the previous year's plans.
  • Changes which have taken place in the environment.
  • The identified needs of young people.
  • The needs of the community in general.
