Careline

Careline is Liverpool City Councils social care contact service, (we used to be known as Social Services) 

We can be contacted 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We are the contact point for enquiries and referrals for services for children, adults and homeless families. 

Careline is staffed by highly qualified customer service advisors and social workers who provide a confidential service and will help put you in touch with the people who can best help you. 

If you already have a social worker or are receiving any other social care service, we will put you in contact with the right person.

If you have a hearing impairment you can contact us via our minicom on 0151 225 2500. 

Careline is a member of Language Line and can help customers in any language. 

Careline Adult services

We work with older people, disabled people with a physical and/or sensory impairment, people with a learning disability, people with mental health needs and their carers.

If you would like information or would like to contact Adult Social Care Services because you or someone you know needs help call Careline Adult Services  on 0151 233 3800.

Careline Children's Service

We are able to help with all issues relating to children and families. We respond to enquiries and referrals from the public and professionals and we are able to offer advice about all aspects of child welfare. 

You should contact us if you feel that:

  • A child needs protection - if you feel that a child is suffering harm, neglect or abuse, we can investigate and act to protect the child.
  • A family is under stress , we can offer support and advice and help families access support from other services 
  • A child is seriously ill or disabled, we can arrange an assessment of the child's and families needs and provide support 
  • You want to find out more about fostering and adoption, we can provide information directly or put you in contact with experienced fostering and adoption social workers who can offer you advice.

Alternatively, if you are a person making a referral in a professional capacity,  by following this link you can complete the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Children's Referral Form (MS Word [301.5Kb] opens in new window). Completed forms should be faxed to Careline on the number 0151 225 2275. Completion of the referral form doesn't replace the need for professionals to contact Careline by telephone in order to make a referral.

Homeless Families 

Our homeless prevention team can help with any housing and homeless issues including 

  • Advice and assistance for council tenants with rent arrears
  • Advice and assistance for tenants , landlords and owner occupiers about rent arrears , possession orders and eviction issues
  • Advice on Housing benefits and council tax changes for help with housing costs 
  • Discretionary housing payments to meet shortfalls in housing benefit
  • Tenancy relations officer to help stop illegal evictions from private tenancies 
  • Advice on access to housing and any other housing related problems.          

Should the homeless prevention team  not be able to assist or resolve your homeless situation short term accommodation may be provided.

If you or someone you know is the victim of racial harassment , verbal or physical abuse suffered by individuals , families or groups of people because of the colour of their skin, ethnicity or national origin Careline can offer help and advice on 0800 731 3200 (free phone )
