The Carers Grant forms part of the Goverment's National Strategy for Carers, 'Caring about Carers', published in 1999. It is designed to stimulate diversity and flexibility of service provision that enable carers to take a break from caring, and to help provide carers' services, to support them in their caring role.
In Liverpool the Carers Grant has enabled Liverpool City Council to develop a range of support services for carers. This page gives information about the types of support services that might help you in your caring role.

Direct Payments -  If you would like more information about direct payments either for yourself or the person in your care, please visit the Direct Payments pages. Alternatively, contact Careline on 0151 233-3800 or by e-mail at: wecanhelp@liverpool.gov.uk

Carers Voucher Scheme - Carer Vouchers are allocated to carers assessed as eligible for the service following a Carer Assessment.  They are designed to provide carers with increased choice and flexibility by enabling them to arrange their own Short Break.
The Carer Voucher Scheme is currently funded through the Carers Grant and delivered by the Community Services and Adult Social Care Portfolio. For more information about the Carers Voucher Scheme, the authority's approved providers and frequently asked questions,
please view the: Guidance and Procedure for the Carers Voucher Scheme (MS Word [94Kb] opens in new window)

If you think that you could benefit from using the carers voucher scheme, you will need to have a carers assessment. To find out more about carers assessments and how to get one,
Please view; Carers Assessments.
