How do I register?
Download the form
or collect one from your local One Stop Shop. Complete and return it to any of the participating landlords with two proofs of residence for all adults listed; one proof of evidence for all children listed; and proof of your National Insurance Number. It will help if you can provide the National Insurance Number of all other adults listed.
Acceptable proof of residence includes: driving licence, child benefit book, post office savings book, medical card, or any similar documents from an official organisation with your name and address on them
If you need help filling in the form, the landlord to whom you are making your application will be happy to help you do so. This can include arranging any specialist help you may need i.e. interpreter, braille etc. to fill in the form.
Can anyone apply?
We operate a fairly open approach to applications, but some restrictions and/or conditions do apply. For more information read the housing allocation scheme
.
Do I need to renew my Housing Application at any time?
Yes. To stay on the housing register with your chosen housing provider you must renew your application at the interval which your housing provider stipulates. You will be sent a renewal letter with a new application form. This form must be completed and returned to your housing provider.
What do I do if I see a property I am interested in?
You should express your interest and "bid for the property" through any of the participating landlords or through your local One Stop Shop.
Applications - What if I have rent arrears?
If you have rent arrears or an outstanding debt with your current or previous landlord, your application will be suspended until you either clear the debt in full or make an arrangement to reduce the debt and keep to the arrangement for at least 12 months.
Applications - What should I do if my circumstances change after I have completed an application form?
Contact the housing assocation you are registered with to advise them of the change. Your application will then be re-assessed and you will be informed of how the change effects your position on their Housing Register.
Applications - What if I have a medical or mobility problem?
People with a severe mobility problem are considered for inclusion on the Register for Access Liverpool. Most housing associations have some homes which have been adapted for people with mobility problems, and these are registered with Access Liverpool. If you have a mobility problem, you must make this clear and describe your specific requirements when making your application for a home.
Can I apply to live anywhere in Liverpool?
Yes but it may not always be possible to help you in your first area of choice. If you know the area where you might want to live, contact the housing association who is likely to have homes in your chosen area.
Can my application be suspended?
Yes. The suspension categories include:-
- Anti-social behaviour
- Racial Harassment
- Rent arrears and other debts associated with your tenancy
- Abandonment of property
- Misrepresentation on your application form
As a general rule, your application will be suspended for no more than 2 years. However, if there is no attempt to improve the behaviour which caused the suspension during that period it may be extended. Alternatively, if the applicant can demonstrate they have improved their behaviour and are capable of fulfilling the terms and conditions of a tenancy, the suspension can be removed.
For more information about how to appeal against a suspension, contact your housing provider.
