Why has my area been chosen for regeneration?
The Lodge Lane Renewal Area contains 2,127 properties and is situated near both Sefton and Princes Park.
The area consists of a mix of larger Victorian houses, smaller pre-1919 terraces and areas of Council / RSL infill development.
Although the area is predominantly sustainable, there are elements of poor quality housing and evidence of partial market failure requiring targeted action, including some intervention to the run down shopping street, which lies at the centre of the area.
What is happening?
The programme in Lodge Lane includes work by RSL partners - including LHT, Cosmopolitan, Steve Biko, Plus and Riverside, who are providing new housing development and home improvement programmes to bring previously vacant houses back into use for owner occupation and meet local needs.
Further new build developments are planned for nearby sites, to provide a choice of modern homes for the current community and people looking to move to the Lodge Lane area.
There are plans for major commercial developments on Lodge Lane and improvements for existing businesses through an extension of the transformational shops up-front project. A rolling programme of improvements to house frontages is underway with grants for works valued up to £10,000 per property being made available to private owners.
How long will all this take?
The renewal area was declared in July 2006 and the programme is expected to last for 10 years.
