Home Improvement Agency
What we would like to do?
The City Council is aware that elderly, disabled and vulnerable owner occupiers may need help in repairing and looking after their homes. We have therefore agreed to launch a city-wide Home Improvement Agency.
Home Improvement Agencies are not for profit organisations. They help vulnerable home owners to repair, improve, maintain or adapt their homes. We aim to have one of these in the City soon.
At the moment the City Council is already working together with a number of organisations to fund and run various initiatives.
However these are not always accessible for everyone who needs them around the whole of the City. To improve this situation the City Council wishes to build on the existing work so that a complete City-wide service is available for all, no matter where they live in Liverpool.
If this applies to you, the values of the Home Improvement Agency will centre around you, focussing on your wishes and needs.
What will the Home Improvement Agency cover?
The City Council is currently launching a team that will look at where the services need to be improved and where new services need to be established. The team will investigate funding sources and the best way to deliver services.
Following discussions and consultation with partners such as Age Concern and local Housing Associations, the City Council will identify a full list of services that need to be included in the Agency.
The Home Improvement Agency will provide a single point of contact for home owners to call if they need advice and help.
Who will be eligible?
Home owners and private sector tenants who are older, disabled or on low incomes.
When will the service be launched?
At this stage, we are aiming to launch a Home Improvement Agency Service during that late part of 2008.
Please look out for further press releases for more details on the launch and content of the Agency.
