  • Empty, abandoned and derelict homes
The City has an anti-abandonment policy.  This helps to reduce issues caused by empty homes which are abandoned by their owners and fall into disrepair.  This can mean they become an eyesore; or are can be entered by vandals or children.  If owners do not keep their empty properties secure; or make repairs to make their properties fit to live in; the City has legal powers to enter the building to undertake any necessary work and pass the bill to absentee owners.
