Housing Research

Some of the Housing Research documents which you can download

We need a research programme to make sure our housing strategy is backed up by cold hard facts.

We have had a housing market research programme in place since 1999.  To produce this, we worked with the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (CURS) at the University of Birmingham, and other consultants.

The following nine reports have been published:

  1. Measuring the Sustainability of Neighbourhoods in Liverpool (1999);
  2. Developing a Housing Investment Framework for the Inner Core of Liverpool (2001);
  3. Private Rented Housing in Liverpool; an Overview of Current Market Conditions (2001);
  4. Changing Demand; Making the Links between Housing and Planning across Merseyside (2001);
  5. Stabilising the Population of Liverpool; Employment Markets and Housing Choice (2001);
  6. A Comprehensive Regeneration Framework for the Eastern Fringe Estates (2001);
  7. Liverpool's Housing Market Research Programme 1999/2001; A Review of the Main Finding and Policy Recommendations (2001);
  8. Renewing the Housing Market of Liverpool's Inner Core (2002);
  9. Understanding the Liverpool Housing Market; reversing decline and managing change (2003).

Housing Needs Survey

Fordham Research was commissioned by Liverpool City Council to carry out a Housing Needs Survey across Liverpool during March and April of 2007. The aim was to find out more about the type of home you live in, whether it is the most suitable type of accommodation for you, and what type of home you might need in the future.

Information collected will assist the Council in its housing and planning strategies.

If you want to know more about this survey, please contact Samra O'Neill on 0151 233 2775 or by email at samra.o'neill@liverpool.gov.uk.
