Housing Strategy Statement 2005-8

Our Housing Strategy Statement is more than just about the Council's own stock. It sets the vision, priorities and targets for housing in both the private and public sector; supporting the regeneration of the City of Liverpool; and enhancing quality of life for our residents.
To do this, we have 4 specific targets:-
- By 2010, to bring all social housing into a decent condition. Most of this improvement will take place in deprived areas, and for vulnerable households in the private setor, including families with children. We want to increase the number of people who live in homes that are in decent condition;
- To reduce the overall vacancy levels in all types of housing from 9% to 5% by 2010;
- To increase the proportion of owner occupiers from 50% to 60% of all homes by 2010;
- To improve the range of accommodation available across the city by 2010. This will be seen by a change in the ratio of Council Tax bands. We want Bands C to H to increase from 19% to 30% of all homes; and Bands A and B to decrease from 81% to 70%.
Find out how we intend to achieve these targets in Our Housing Strategy Statement document.
