Sheltered Accommodation

Sheltered housing is accommodation for rent, which is specially designed for older people, grouped together, usually within one complex, and with a range of communal facilities (lounge, laundry, hairdressing room and so on).  Each complex is usually called a scheme and has a scheme manager.

Supported Living

The City Council is keen to see people stay living in their own homes where they have family and friends around them.  However, we are able to offer some support for those who wish to remain living in their own home but may require help to do so either because of age or disability.

As well as offering some care provision, there are also many grants available for those on low incomes and in receipt of benefit whose homes may need certain improvements or modernising to enable residents to continue living there.

Click the Supported Living button to the left to find out more about what we can offer.
