Job description:

Voluntary Aided 11-19 Girls Comprehensive with a Mixed Sixth Form NOR 910 (Sixth Form 209) Trustees: Sisters of Notre Dame A specialist Arts College designated for a significant BSF rebuild commencing 2013.  The vacancy arises from the retirement of Miss Christine McCann after 17 years of exceptional leadership.

Notre Dame Catholic College for the Arts was founded in 1869 under the trusteeship of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and has served an inner-city area of significant social and economic disadvantage with distinction.

It is a vibrant school judged as being good with outstanding features in the aspects of curricular provision, personal development and well being, student behaviour, relationships between staff and students, the range of extra-curricular activities, local partnerships, and a learning environment where students enjoy the experience and make an outstanding contribution to the community.

The CVA is exceptionally high at 1056 and, even though the college is a National Challenge school, for the last two years performance has been above the floor target.

In order to offer the best possible student experience and to widen the range of available courses, the college works with two other local schools as part of the North Central Liverpool Collaborative. The college works in partnership with the Music Support Service, which is based here and operates under the governance and management of the college.

The Governing Body invites applications from practicing Catholic teachers who have a commitment to the vision and mission of the college and who can demonstrate the following:
  • an imaginative, inspirational and distributive approach to school leadership.
  • a sustained record of success at a senior level in education.
  • an understanding of the challenges of serving an inner-city area.
  • an enthusiasm for collaborative working with a range of partners.
  • the ability to build on and further improve measurable outcomes.
Notre Dame Catholic College for the Arts is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Informal visits to the college are welcomed prior to application and may be arranged by contacting Mrs J Wilkinson at the college.
