Our commitment
Liverpool City Council is fully committed providing a high quality and 'real' experience of the world of work to all school students who undertake one of the many placements we offer.
For 2008 we are launching a new and improved Work Experience programme, co-ordinated through our Diversity and Social Inclusion Team. The programme aims to build on previous success by offering more placements across all council portfolios, having a well planned, purposeful and challenging structure to the work experience and ensuring that all placements offered are taken up by school students across the city.
All placements will provide the opportunity to develop skills which are key within the work arena. These are:
- Communication
- Application of Number
- Information Technology
- Problem Solving
- Working with Others
- Improving Own Learning and Performance
Each student will attend a formal induction and evaluation with the Diversity & Social Inclusion Team, which models the processes in a real work environment. These workshops will allow the participants to develop confidence, prepare for their placement and to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
