Children's activities

Liverpool City Council provides and supports a number of children's activities, many of which are hosted through the Library Service and Leisure Services. There are also a number of new projects which are aimed at getting people in the city fit and active.

Liverpool - Active City
Launched in April 2005 with a record-breaking exercise session involving almost 1,000 schoolchildren, Liverpool Active City is a partnership between the city council, the NHS and other local agencies which aims to improve the health and well being of every single resident over the next five years.

SportsLinx
SportsLinx is an exciting project for nine to ten-year-old children in the city of Liverpool aimed at getting kids interested in sports, in and out of school, and making sure that those who are really good at sport get help and encouragement. It also aims to give you easy to read tip on health and what to eat.

Ranger Service
Liverpool's Ranger Service offers a range of fun walks, talks and events for people of all ages, most of which are free of charge.

Lifestyles
The council's 15 Lifestyles Fitness centres offer a balance of high quality fitness and relaxation facilities including state of the art gym equipment, exercise studios for exercise classes, swimming pools, sports halls, and synthetic pitches.

The Youth Games
The Merseyside Youth Games event is very much a culmination of a yearlong programme of sports development activities and sessions, which lead to recruitment, training and selection of the teams and individuals who will compete over the Games weekend.

The Youth Service
Liverpool Youth Service works to provide learning opportunities, programmes, activities and experiences for all young people with whom it comes into contact. The Service is striving to provide educational, social and recreational opportunities which are responsive, locally accessible, stimulating, affordable and of good quality.

Splash
Splash provides a range of activities for children and young people up to the age of 17 years.  Visit the Summer splash web pages where you will find more information on future events. Liverpool city libraries also provide activities in partnership with Splash. If you are interested in joining an organised group, there are a number of options depending on your age and what your interests are. The Scouts , the guides , Air Cadets , sea Cadets , army cadets all have activities to suit age ranges from five to  25 years. And if you are interested in sporting activities or want to get fit , the leisure services have information about local swimming pools and classes and groups in your area.
