Film Office
The Liverpool Film Office offer a FREE service to all productions wanting to film in Liverpool and Merseyside - features, television, commercials, short films, music videos and much more!
Having being established since 1989, the UK's first Film Office, the Liverpool Film Office staff have extensive experience in facilitating productions, which combined with local knowledge, the superb range of services and locations which Liverpool and Merseyside has to offer, will ensure that we satisfy all of a production needs.
The Film Office's aim is to attract investment into the local economy and raise the profile of City wide region nationally and internationally, in turn creating a world class film friendly city.
The City has a long tradition of being on film going back 1896 and the Lumier Brothers film which included what many consider to be the first tracking shot. Since then many famous films have shot on location in Liverpool including In the Name of the Father, The Hunt For Red October, 51st State, Parole Officer, Alfie, Letter to Brezhnev. 2009 saw the release of the critically acclaimed documentary Of Time and the City by Liverpool base production company Hurricane Films and for release in 2010 is Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, Sam Taylor-Wood's Nowhere Boy, Powder, Kicks and Salvage.
Liverpool is also the home the largest independent television production company in the UK, Lime Pictures, producing Hollyoaks for Channel Four, with other credits also including Grange Hill, Apparitions and the MTV series Life on the Edge.
Other television dramas made in the city include Nice Guy Eddie, Liverpool One, The Forsyte Saga and hitting our screens for another series in 2010 is Moving On created by local production company Liverpool Academy Productions.
By covering all aspects of production including location sourcing and permissions in addition to offering expert advise and support. In 2009 film and television companies added an extra £13.5milion into the local economy by making use of local services, hotels and facilities and employing local crew and extras.
We also work very in partnership with public and private sector partners including North West Vision and Media, the region's development agency for the digital and creative sectors and the UK Film Council, to create a stronger vibrant media sector in Merseyside.
