Liverpool Libraries and Information Services provide a wide range of multi-cultural services to satisfy the needs of the diverse population of the city.

  • Books for adults and children in community languages such as Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu
  • Dual language picture books for young children
  • Newspapers and magazines in several languages
  • The People's Network, free internet access in every library that allow you to find information from all over the world
  • Books, tapes and CD's for the learning of English and other languages
  • Music for all ages and tastes: reggae, bhangra, films, folk and modern music etc.
  • Exhibitions of material relating to multicultural Britain
  • Special events during Black History Month                     

Community Collections

Some of our community libraries have specific collections of books, music CD's and films that reflect the cultures of Liverpool's African Caribbean, Asian, Chinese communities.

"Welcome To Your Library" - Services for Asylum Seekers and Refugees

Liverpool Libraries and Information Services is one of the partner libraries in the "Welcome To Your Library Project". We will be introducing services and hosting events to enable asylum seekers and refugees to use library services more easily.
