Peoples Network Computers in Liverpool Libraries

Every public library in Liverpool offers free access to the internet and e-mail.

The People's Network project is part of the Government's commitment to give everyone in the UK the opportunity to use computers and access the internet.

Liverpool City Libraries have over 350 computers for free access to the public.

Central Library has 70 computers available for public use and most of our community libraries have at least 10.

The computer facilities include, internet, word, excel, powerpoint, access, also scanning, printing and networked reference information. All computers have adaptive software.

How To Use A Library Public Computer

  • First join the library and get a membership card and pin number - online or in the library

  • Go to any Liverpool Library and log onto any public computer using your membership card and pin number (ask staff for help if it is your first time)

  • The computers are free to use but you will be charged a small fee for any printing

  • You will be allowed to use the computer for a full hour (computers are automatically switched off 15 minutes before closing so your time may be shorter if you log on in the last hour of the day)

If all computers are in use:

  • If all computers are in use ask a member of staff if you can be put into the queue (usually you will wait between 5 minutes to an hour depending on how busy the computers are)

  • You can continue to log onto the computers for a total of three hours in any one day but will join the end of the queue after each session of one hour during busy times. This is to allow all customers a fair share of the computers when they are in heavy demand.

  • Any problems or queries please ask a member of staff in the library.
