How to join the library
You can register as a borrower at any of Liverpool's libraries. All you need to do is provide us with proof of your name and address and you can start borrowing immediately.
You can also register online now. Enter your details on the form and your library card will posted to you after they have been checked and processed.

You can borrow not only books but music CDs, spoken word cassettes/CDs, videos, DVDs and CD ROMs. Borrowing books/spoken word items are free of charge. There are small charges to pay for the loan of other items.
You can borrow a maximum of 16 items from up to 12 books or spoken word cassette/CDs, 6 music CDs, 4 videos or DVDs. Books and spoken word cassettes/CDs are normally loaned for 21 days. Music CDs, videos and DVDs are normally loaned for 7 days.
You can access archives, local studies, maps and photographs in Record Office. Food, drink and pens not allowed.
Renewals can be made in person, by letter, by phone (0151 233 3000) or through Borrower Services on the on-line library catalogue, unless they are in demand.
Fines are charged on all overdue items. Children and Teenagers up to and including age 17 are exempt unless Teenagers borrow Certificate 12 or 15 videos/DVDs.
Any items not available on the shelves may be reserved for a small charge. A full list of fees and charges can be found in key documents.
