Research Service for Family and Local History

- Where, when and how did your ancestors live in Liverpool?
- What happened to them?
- How has the area they lived in changed over the years?
- Do you want copies of images of the city in the past?
Our Research Officer can try to answer these questions and many more using the extensive resources available in the Record Office. These range from original archival sources like parish registers, cemetery records and those of the Liverpool Workhouse to electronic databases. We also have a large collection of old maps of the area, a vast photographic archive, watercolours, and a major collection of Liverpool directories, electoral registers, and newspapers.
Please see our information leaflets for the range of what is available and please also consult our catalogue for more specific details. If you would like to view a selection of images please visit the Mersey Gateway website.
