Policy and Development
Liverpool City Council is working to improve the prosperity of the people of Liverpool by enhancing the quality and quantity of leisure facilities in the City.
The Council's Policy & Development Team assists in the development of leisure policies and programmes. It acts as a central focus for new projects and regeneration of existing Leisure facilities. It is actively involved in creating and promoting opportunities for investment in leisure and leisure related activities in Liverpool as well as assisting that local people to gain access to these facilities. The team also investigates sources of funding to help secure implementation of its various initiatives.
The team comprises 2 sections that pursue the following objectives:
Development and Implementation:
- to assist with the identification, preparation, costing, and development of leisure opportunities
- to provide advice and guidance regarding accessibility to leisure sites and buildings
- to liaise with, and prepare applications to, funding, advisory, and governing bodies of leisure
- to tender for, appoint, monitor the work of, and liaise with, leisure related construction consultants, designers and contractors
- to provide advice and post-capital project technical support to facility operators
Policy, Research and Information:
- to carry out research on leisure and leisure related issues
- to investigate external sources of funding for new leisure initiatives
- to provide policy guidance and sports analysis support for the formulation of strategic leisure reports
- to monitor and review performance to provide management information for service planning
