Boxing
Liverpool is and always has been a boxing city, and has produced many national and international champions such as John Conteh, Alan Rudkin and Paul Hodkinson, the latter a boxer who came right through the city's Kid Gloves development scheme to become World Featherweight Champion.
Liverpool was the first city to employ a Boxing Development Officer who forged a number of partnerships with local clubs, volunteers and of course the ABA of England.
These partnerships have enabled a number of high profile tournaments to take place within the city, including Olympic and European qualifiers.
