Culture tips for french mayor
Former French Prime Minister, Alain Juppe, is visiting Liverpool to gather advice for the 2013 Capital of Culture bid.
The ex-PM is now Mayor of Bordeaux, one of four cities short listed for Capital of Culture 2013.
Juppe will be visiting Liverpool on Tuesday 29th April to meet with the Lord Mayor.
Liverpool's Lord Mayor, Councillor Paul Clark, will have valuable advice for Juppe about the benefits reaped since winning the Capital of Culture title.
Representatives from Marseille, one of the other short listed cities, have already visited Liverpool. Leon and Toulouse are the other two candidates for the title.
Paul Clark said, "It's fantastic that other cities are actively coming to Liverpool to see our achievements and the progress of year in the global spotlight. Hopefully, our advice will help the candidates in their bid for the 2013 Capital of Culture title."
Famous for its vineyards, Bordeaux is marketing itself as a tourist destination with walking, coach, bike and limousine city tours on offer.
As Prime Minister, Juppe introduced a number of social, public-sector and welfare reforms which saw Bordeaux transformed into a vibrant city.
Liverpool will also be visited by other international visitors over the coming week.
Guests from the Ruhr, Germany's Capital of Culture for 2010, and Graz, Austria's Capital of Culture for 2003 are also coming soon to see the ongoing regeneration of the city, and how Liverpool is successfully repositioning itself as an international tourist destination.
