New community centres
Building work is getting under way on four schemes which will transform community facilities in North Liverpool.
The schemes - costing a total of £5m - are funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Liverpool Neighbourhood Regeneration Programme.
Funding became available after it was originally earmarked for a Community Partnership Centre as part of the new LFC stadium development in Stanley Park, but but the timescales involved in the project meant the grant could not be allocated and the project delivered within the European funding timetable.
The City Council insisted that the cash be re-invested to benefit north Liverpool residents. Local groups were involved in drawing up new schemes and four projects were approved
The Community Partnership Centre at the new stadium will go ahead, but will be fully funded by Liverpool Football Club.
