Liverpool Drug and Alcohol Action Team hosted a visit by Vernon Coaker MP, Under Secretary for Police and Security with responsibility for drugs, to Liverpool's Park View Rehabilitation Unit. Mr Coaker had an opportunity to meet with residents from the Drugs and Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit.

Two of the residents who identified themselves as Prolific and Priority Offenders with a very active 20 year long crime life style until they came to Park View, spoke to Mr Coaker and explained that they are now drug and crime free for the longest period since they started crime and drugs as juveniles.

Park View has 42 beds and uses the 12 Step Approach to the total abstinence of drugs and or alcohol.  The unit has one of the best success rates in the country and has recently received additional funding from the Nation Treatment Agency to further enhance their services.

DAAT Quote:  'Facilities for drug and alcohol misusers such as Park View are vital if we are to make Liverpool a safer place to live, work and visit.'
