Operation Cube-It
The latest launch of the Cube-It operation is in response to community concerns about problems of anti-social behaviour caused by nuisance untaxed vehicles in our city.
During 2005 over 1,000 abandoned nuisance vehicles were taken off the streets of Liverpool and cubed.
Every vehicle removed will be crushed into a one meter square cube regardless of whether they are brand new vehicle or a vehicle ready for the scrap yard. Porsche, Mercedes and BMWs were among the 1,000 cars scrapped last year in Liverpool.
Operation Cube-it is a multi agency approach designed to tackle vehicle related problems in local areas. As part of neighbourhood renewal, the operation aims to:
- Prosecute anyone driving an untaxed, unlicensed , uninsured or unroadworthy vehicle.
- Reduce the number of road traffic problems involving untaxed/uninsured/unlicensed and unroadworthy vehicles.
- Increase feelings of safety within neighbourhoods and public confidence in the police and partner agencies.
- Improve the quality of life for those living in disadvantaged neighbourhoods, and empower local communities.
If you wish to report an untaxed 'nuisance' vehicle call Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3045 or, Merseyside Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 (call anonymously with information about crime).
