Liverpool City Council - domestic burglary

Domestic burglary

Citysafe has carried out a number of initiatives to reduce domestic burglary.

Some examples include:

alleygate

Alleygating (gating alleyways behind terraced houses) - research evidence suggests alleygating has reduced domestic burglary by 37% and there has been diffusion of benefits to surrounding areas rather than a displacement of crime.
The alleygating programme for all terraced properties ended on 31st March 2005.
To report a damaged alleygate or request a replacement key, contact Liverpool Direct on 2333001.

Distraction burglary events - focussing on older and vulnerable sections of the community to raise awareness to the dangers of bogus callers.

Over the next three years Citysafe intends to address domestic burglary by:

  • Identifying and working with repeat victims to reduce levels of repeat victimisation
  • Targeting areas with higher than the national average domestic burglary rates.

These are just some examples of what we will do.  Have a look at our strategy for more information.
