The DAAT is a strategic partnership made up of health representatives, Police, Local Authority and Probation.   This partnership was required in all local Authority areas in 1999 following the publication of the National Drugs strategy in 1998.

In Liverpool the DAAT and the Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership merged in March 2002 under the Citysafe brand.

What the DAAT Partnership has to deliver

The DAAT is charged with 'implementing' the National Drugs Strategy in Liverpool.

There are four key themes in the strategy

  • Reducing supply
  • Engaging communities
  • Young people
  • Treatment

In 2002, the National Strategy was revised and has lead to a focus on drugs which do most harm. This has resulted on intervention focussing more on Heroin, Cocaine and Crack.

Key aims of the strategy are:-

  • To reduce the harm that drugs cause to communities, individuals and their families:
    • By reducing the supply of illegal drugs on our streets
    • By reducing the harm that drugs cause to communities
    • By preventing today's young people from becoming tomorrow's problematic drug users
    • By enabling people with drug problems to overcome them and live healthy and crime free lives.
