Liverpool City Council - fire fighting and rescue services

Fire fighting and rescue services

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MF&RS) has 26 community fire stations providing emergency cover to a population of more than 1.4 million residents.  It also attends non-fire emergencies such as road traffic collisions and has the UK's first full-time dedicated urban search and rescue team, who are highly trained in specialist skills, including highline rope rescue, extrications from road traffic collisions, swift water rescue and urban search and rescue.

The vision of MF&RS is to make Merseyside a safer community.  It is a world leader in community fire safety and its pioneering initiative offering free Home Fire Safety Checks and smoke alarms to every resident is now being introduced by Fire Services across the country.
