Liverpool Register Office
The Register Office has been present in Liverpool since 1837, when the first legal requirement to register births, stillbirths, deaths and marriages was introduced.
Find out about:
- civil partnership registration
- registering a birth
- registering a death
- giving notice of marriage
- planning your marriage
- other ceremonies
- researching your Family History
- Citizenship Ceremonies
- Nationality Checking Service
Over the years, the bustling cosmopolitan seaport and commercial city of Liverpool has produced many famous and infamous people who have registered with us at some stage in their lives.
Today, the Register Office continues to register these events, maintaining the original registers in which they are recorded and providing extracts from the registers in the form of duplicate and copy certificates when required.
We hold all the original Liverpool birth, marriage and death registers from 1837 to the present day. From these we are able to help family historians and genealogists with their family and local history research.
Where is the Liverpool Register Office?
Our offices are in the Cotton Exchange, a listed building in Old Hall Street in the heart of the financial and commercial district of Liverpool.
