The River Mersey
The River Mersey begins near Stockport and flows westwards some 70 miles towards the Irish Sea. It is an essential part of Liverpool. Albert Dock
The Albert Dock complex was renovated in the early 1980's and is now one of Merseyside's top tourist attractions. Albert Dock itself and the adjoining Canning Half Tide Dock provide prestige waterside frontage within Liverpool City Centre, and are visited by various vessels throughout the year - particularly during the Mersey Festival.Princes Dock
Since the mid 1990s, the former Princes Dock has been undergoing a major redevelopment. It now has two hotels (Crowne Plaza and Malmaison), two residential towers, a multistorey car park and a number of Grade A office buildings, all on a prime site next to the city's Commercial Quarter and overlooking the River Mersey. The dock itself now forms part of the recently completed canal link between the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and the Pier Head/ Albert Dock.
South Docks / Liverpool Marina
The Liverpool South Docks are owned and managed by British Waterways and are used for canoeing, water-skiing, scuba diving and other watersports. The marina area has been redeveloped as an exclusive residential neighbourhood with views over the river, the dock and the marina full of its expensive yachts.
