How do I apply for or renew a Blue Badge?
The Blue Badge scheme provides a range of parking concessions for people with severe mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport.
How you apply or renew depends on your circumstances. The process for applying and renewing is the same:
Your are automatically eligible to apply if you are:
- Registered as Severely Sight Impaired (Blind)
- Receiving a Higher Rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance
- Receiving War Pension Mobility Supplement
Apply for a mandatory blue badge
You will require further assessment if you are:
- Over two years of age and has a severe disability affecting both arms, drives regularly and cannot use or finds it hard to use parking meters or cannot turn a steering wheel by hand even if the wheel is fitted with a turning handle
- Have difficulty walking due to permanent and substantial disabilities which means you are unable to or have difficulty walking
- Applying on behalf of a child under the age of two, who has a medical condition requiring bulky medical equipment or immediate access to a vehicle for treatment
