Liverpool City Council - Find a blue badge parking bay

Blue Badge parking bays

There are many parking facilities in Liverpool city centre for disabled drivers who hold a Blue Badge. Blue Badges  are nationally-recognised passes that allow disabled drivers to park in certain locations without the restrictions that may apply to able-bodied drivers.

Where can I park?

Blue Badge holders may park in any 'on street' parking spaces and in most of the City Council 'Pay and Display' car parks free of charge with no time limit, provided a valid badge is clearly on display, in accordance with the Department for Transport "The Blue Badge Scheme" booklet, in the windscreen.

The exception to this is Mount Pleasant Multi-storey pay and display car park. This has a dedicated disabled person's parking area at Level 5 of the car park, which has 37 disabled person bays. Disabled drivers should use the dedicated bays only. If you park on other pay and display bays within this level of the car park, you may be subject to the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice if you have not purchased a pay and display voucher. For guidance on this please check page 17 of the Department for Transport "The Blue Badge scheme" booklet. You may access this booklet by clicking on the link in the next paragraph.

Badge holders may also park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, except where there is a ban on loading or unloading. Care should be taken to ensure that no obstruction or danger is caused to other road users. For more information regarding the do's and dont's of the Blue Badge scheme you can access a copy of Department for Transport 'The Blue Badge scheme'  booklet.

There are also 'on street' parking facilities reserved exclusively for badge holders at a number of locations in the city centre. Below is a table listing the streets that have a number of bays reserved exclusively for blue badge holders.

Applying for a resident's parking bay

In some cases we can provide parking bays for Blue Badge Holders who do not have a driveway and have difficulty parking outside their home. Disabled Residents Parking Places (DRPPs) are provided free of charge, but all applicants must meet certain criteria.

How do I know if I can apply for a parking bay?

All applicants are assessed against our Disabled Residents Parking Place Criteria (MS Word [31.5Kb] opens in new window). If you think you meet this criteria and would like to apply for a bay, you should complete a Disabled Residents Parking Place Application Form (MS Word [41.5Kb] opens in new window) and return it to Traffic Management at the following address:
