Driveway Protection Marking ('H' Marking)
If cars often park across your drive blocking your access you can apply for a white 'H' marking to be painted on the road.
'H' markings do not make it illegal to park, but we have found that they do discourage drivers from parking inconsiderately.
You can only apply for an 'H' marking if the kerb has been lowered between your drive and the road. To request your kerb to be lowered, you need to follow this procedure:
1) Apply for planning permission if it is on a principal route
2) Arrange for Enterprise Liverpool Ltd to provide a quotation to undertake the work. Enterprise Liverpool Ltd will also be able to advise you if your proposal is suitable.
You can contact Enterprise Liverpool Ltd by e-mailing liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk or ring them on 0151 233 3001. Remember, it is illegal to cross the pavement if your kerb has not been lowered.
To apply for an 'H' Marking, you will need to fill in an online form.
Alternatively, you can complete an 'H' Marking Application Form 08-09
Please print this form and post it, together with a cheque for £65.80 (inc. VAT) made payable to Liverpool City Council, to the following address:
