Highway drainage and gully cleansing
When it rains, standing water collects on roads and footpaths. Without good drainage systems this can cause problems for all highway users. To make sure water is removed as quickly as possible off the public highway we empty our gullies at least once a year.
During periods of heavy rain the gullies are not always able to clear all the rainwater away immediately due to excess water in the sewers. However if the water remains on the highway for some time this probably means the gully is blocked.
To report a blocked gully ring Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3001.
Road Cleaning
All major roads in the city centre are swept at least once a day, as are other routes in the city that attract a high number of pedestrians. While other roads in Liverpool are cleaned less regularly we strive to keep everywhere to Grade A standard at all times.
