Weed killing
We have a legal duty to control harmful weeds and stop them growing on the highway. We also remove non-harmful weeds as they can cause structural damage to footpaths, carriageways or drainage systems.
Twice a year we carry out a programme of weed-killing on all streets. We treat all kerbs and gullies in residential roads and where necessary we also remove weeds from pavements.
The herbicides we use in Liverpool are not very toxic for humans, animals and insects and are therefore safe to use in areas open to the public and their pets.
