Liverpool City Council - in town...without my car

In Town...Without My Car!

European Car Free Day is held on 22nd September every year in cities across Europe.  The day aims to show people how city environments can be better for people when there is less traffic on the roads.

Last year many of you requested the CARe Free Card which offered great discounts across Merseyside.  This year, Merseyside TravelWise teamed up with Merseyrail Electrics and Network Rail to offer half price rail tickets on the 22nd September 2007.  The City Council also promoted the day by giving City Centre visitors the chance to cycle there way to a free fruit smoothie on a special cycle smoothie maker.

In the run up to Car Free Day the Council also promoted the Liverpool Car Club, operated by Whizzgo.   The car club offers flexible access to pay by the hour cars found at several locations in the City Centre.  To find out more about Whizzgo you can visit www.whizzgo.co.uk.
