Copies of full Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Partnership Certificates are £9 each. A short copy of a Birth Certificate is available for £9. This does not include details of the parents and may not always be accepted by passport offices or other organisations.

All certificates must be paid for before we issue them.  We accept payment by cash, cheque, credit or debit card. Please do not send cash through the post.

There is a 50p charge for postage within the UK, unless a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed with your application.  There is a charge of £1 to cover postage overseas.  We are able to offer the Royal Mail Recorded Delivery Service for an additional £3. This is available for UK addresses only.  Please be aware that this service requires a signature at the destination.  Liverpool Register Office is not liable for any certificates that are delayed or lost in the post.

How long will it take?

If you apply in person at the Register Office for copy certificates for day-to-day use, they will be issued in two working days for collection and five working days if they are to be posted out.

Online and postal applications for day-to-day certificates are processed within five working days.  Certificates applied for online or through the post are not available for collection at the Register Office.  We aim to process applications for family history research that have the Liverpool Register Office reference within five working days.

Applications for certificates for family history purposes that do not include our reference are processed as quickly as possible within the demands of the service.
