City Council planners have given their approval to Land Securities' proposal to refurbish the existing St John's Shopping Centre. The £100million facelift is seen as a response to Grosvenor's Liverpool One project which opened at the end of May 2008.

The redevelopment of the Great George Street estate in Liverpool 1 by developers Urban Splash has started on site. The £100 million scheme is the largest housing scheme to be created in Liverpool by one single developerto help increase the number of affordable homes in the city.
