Children and young people's plan

The statutory requirement to prepare and publish a Children and Young People's Plan has been removed and local authorities and their partners are now free to publish their own strategic plan as they see fit.

Liverpool Children's Trust Board has considered the recent developments and partners have unanimously expressed their preference to maintain the current Children's Trust arrangements and to continue with arrangements to prepare and publish a local plan.

Whilst we digest the full extent of the announcements in the Comprehensive Spending Review, the Children's Trust Board has decided to extend the current Children and Young People's Plan until August 2011 with a view to implementing the new plan in September 2011.

Preparations for the new plan have begun which it is anticipated will have a five year lifespan, and reviewed and refreshed annually. The draft plan will be available for public consultation in the summer.

The plan is part of the wider strategic planning for the city, which is overseen by Liverpool First, the Local Strategic Partnership.
