Race Equality Impact Assessment

All local authorities must promote race equality. This has to be done by law under the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000.

In 2006, we asked an independent consultant to carry out a Race Equality Impact Assessment on our Housing Market Renewal Programme. This assessment was carried out between August and December 2006.

As part of it, the consultant held a series of focus group meetings and interviews with people affected by the Housing Market Renewal programme.

The study found that the programme has no adverse impact on any one racial group. However, we need to take action to make sure that future adverse impacts are avoided for White working class residents living the Anfield, Breckfield, and Kensington Renewal Areas; and Black and Racial Minority residents living in Granby Renewal Area.
