A wider city strategy
The council produces a housing strategy for the city which covers all privately owned and rented homes. It measures the age and condition of Liverpool’s housing stock and monitors how well it is selling and how many are empty.
Future housing
The strategy also works out what type of housing is needed both now and in the future and tries to ensure that new housing is suitable for use by everyone from young families to older and disabled people.
The housing strategy is a key part of Liverpool First’s Community Strategy. It sets out the main strategic priorities that give our interventions in the city’s housing market and our work with partners who provide housing services.
We have also carried out a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of the Housing Strategy as a way to improve the links between health and housing. You can download the strategy and associated documents below.

Housing Strategy consultation
Liverpool City Council Housing Strategy Team are currently beginning the process of renewing the Housing Strategy for Liverpool. The new strategy and associated action plan will cover the period 2011 – 2015.
