Play Schemes and Services
The Play Service provides a wide range of voluntary activities for children. Our main aim is to increase and improve them by:
- providing direct provision to children and young people(10 year-round projects and holiday play schemes at Easter and during summer)
- providing resources for community groups and other agencies to make play provision(grant-aid, summer play scheme staff, play equipment and materials)
- promoting and providing play-work training for paid staff and volunteers
- providing information and advice on all aspects of play and play-work
- consulting with children and young people on their needs
- contributing to research on children and young people's informal education through play
- promoting a greater understanding of the benefits of play to the development of children to key agencies and the general public
In our work of providing and promoting safe and stimulating environments for young people, we make a real contribution to enhancing community safety, social inclusion and improving the quality of informal education.
We provide open access services such as adventure play grounds, community play centres and holiday play schemes.
