Houseproud loan

What is a houseproud loan?

A houseproud loan is an affordable and risk free loan which is available if you are disabled, have a disabled person living with you, or if you are over 60.

How it works

Part of the value of your home can be turned into a loan to meet the cost of home improvement work. Your circumstances will be taken into account when we assess the different types of loan available to you.  There are three types of loan:

  • Capital release loan - the loan and interest will be repaid when the property is sold. This option is available to single people and couples over 60.
  • Interest only loan – you pay the interest on the loan each month until the property is sold. The outstanding balance and interest will be paid upon sale of the property.  This option is available to single people or couples over 60 or households with a disabled person of any age.
  • Capital and interest repayment loan – this is a mortgage. You will make monthly repayments to cover the interest and part of the amount borrowed. This option is available to single people or couples over 60 or households with a disabled person of any age.
