Landlord accreditation scheme

Information for tenants

The landlord accreditation scheme recognises good quality and well managed private accommodation.  In Liverpool, the scheme is known as CLASS (Citywide Landlord Accreditation Safety Scheme).

Landlords self certify that their property meets the standards set out in the scheme and sign up to a code of management of practice.

How the scheme benefits tenants

If you are thinking about renting a property from a private landlord who is a member of CLASS, you can be sure that the properties are safe, in good repair and that the landlord has committed to the health, safety and welfare of their tenants.

The scheme also ensures that tenancy agreements are clear and concise and inform both the tenant and landlord of their responsibilities.

If a property has been accredited by the scheme, you can ask the landlord to see the accreditation certificate for that property.

Accredited landlord contact lists

The following landlord lists only contain those landlords that wish their details to be published on the website.

Information for landlords

The landlord accreditation scheme (CLASS) is voluntary and landlords are under no legal obligation to apply for accreditation.  It is free to join.

How the scheme benefits landlords

Benefits of the scheme include the status of being publicly recognised as a good landlord and your properties will be given priority when the council offers contracts for housing provision.

You will also benefit from improved access to council services via a landlord accreditation officer and receive substantial discounts on houses in multiple occupancy licensing fees for accredited properties.

How to apply

Read the scheme of requirements and download, complete and return the forms and any relevant certificates which are requested on the application form to the Public Protection Service (address is on application form).
