Childwall Woods

The 39 acre woodland is a designated Local Nature Reserve in the south east suburbs of Liverpool.

Facilities and attractions

The woodland and open area is an important feature in Liverpool’s urban landscape, and is home to mature trees and remnants of ornamental gardens and woods.  You can enjoy:

  • Nature trails.
  • Bird watching (Kestrels, Sparrowhawks, Woodpeckers and Herons).
  • Bluebell, marsh orchids and buttercups over the grasslands.
  • Bats, grey squirrels, voles and foxes inhabit the area.
  • Views overlooking the Lancashire and Cheshire plain.
  • Wheelchair access.

How to get there

The woodland is on a south west facing slope looking out towards Huyton, with access from Childwall Park Avenue, Childwall Abbey Road and Woolton Road.
