Historic Monuments and Statues

Statue at entrance to Calderstones Park
The City of Liverpool is proud of its fine collection of public art.  The collection is extensive and uniquely varied spanning the history of the City, commemorating people and events of the past and incorporating the best of contemporary works.  The collection enhances the fine architecture of the City and presents the Liverpudlian and the visitor with a magnificent open air gallery of art for all to appreciate and enjoy.

The documents below list all the major free standing works of art in the City together with locations and comments. There are many other fine statues and works in the City but these are located on or in buildings and for the most part are not listed here.  It should be noted that this is only a brief 'snapshot' and you may find further information from other sources such as the local libraries.
