City Watch runs the Street Crime Warden Service.  This service was initially established through a government grant to target street crime.  The service operates 365 days per year.  The Street Crime Wardens pro- actively target key crime hotspots within specified areas of the city.

The Street Crime Wardens:

  • Provide high visibility uniformed patrols
  • Help to reduce crime and fear of crime, and deter anti-social behaviour
  • Engage with the local community and businesses
  • Report environmental issues
  • Act as professional witnesses
  • Act as ambassadors for the city
  • Enforce Bye Laws.

The Street Crime Wardens are actively involved in a number of joint police agency initiatives targeting specific incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour and/or areas of the city.

The Wardens undertake regular patrols with uniformed Police Officers, enabling wider geographical beat patrols of the city and provide joint event management of major events within the city.
