Free travel pass

Compulsory school aged children (up to age 16) for academic year 2012/13

Following changes to the council's Home to School Transport Policy, pupils up to 16 will only be eligible for free home to school travel support if they attend their 'nearest suitable school'.

Existing pass holders

This change will only apply to those pupils making new applications for the 2012/13 academic year and for pupils who have had a change of address or school.

Compulsory school aged children already in receipt of a travel pass will be included in the 2012/2013 travel pass renewal. Parents/ guardians of these children will receive a renewal form in the post. If this form is returned back to us by 6 July 2012 and the child still qualifies, a travel pass will be available to pick up from school on the first day of term. 

Compulsory school aged children who are moving schools (from primary into secondary etc) will not be included in the 2012/2013 renewal. A new Travel Pass application form must be completed. The new travel pass application form will be available from all One Stop Shops and also available to download from July 2012.

Post 16 students (years 12 and 13)

From the academic year 2012/13 onwards, the council will no longer provide home to school travel passes for post 16 students.

Appeals

If your application for a pass has been refused you have the right to appeal in writing. You cannot appeal against a refusal on low income grounds. 

Download the appeals application form, complete it and return it to the address on the form.Your application will be reviewed by the appeals panel and their decision is final. We will inform you of their decision in writing.
