Cycling in Liverpool

With flat terrain and low levels of car ownership, Liverpool is ideal for cycling. Cycling is a quick, healthy and pollution free form of transport.

The cycle routes go through beautiful Victorian Parks, the historic waterfront and also link to the National Cycle Network for routes to North Wales, Hull and beyond! We have a university route that links the city centre to the student halls and our most successful route yet- the Woolton Cycle Route.

The City Council works hard to promote cycling and make cycle routes better all over the City.  In recent years we have doubled the number of cycle routes in the city and have added cycle parking to popular locations.

If you would like to find out more information on how you can start cycling today, please email Highways Management or call Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3000. You can also download our free 'Cycling in Liverpool brochure' (PDF [1.2Mb] opens in new window) which has details of all our cycle routes and tips for safe cycling around the city.
