Cycle Speke! Pickerings Pasture and Spike Island  Sunday 7 March
The next Cycling Sunday in Speke will be an excursion along the country lanes around Hale to Pickerings Pasture and Spike Island.  The ride leaves Austin Rawlinson Lifestyles at Parklands, Speke, at 2pm.  We head through Hale Village to Pickerings Pasture and Spike Island and then back to Austin Rawlinson Lifestyles where the ride finishes after about three hours.

Those taking part will have some fun, meet other people who enjoy cycling, get some exercise and will enjoy panoramic views of the Mersey Estuary.  It will be suitable for all who haven't cycled for a while and will be at a leisurely pace.

The winter rides usually return before dusk, but this cannot always be guaranteed so make sure you check the lights on your bike. All abilities are welcome and the ride is led by qualified cycle instructors.  There is no need to book.

The first Sunday of every month is Cycling Sunday in Speke.  Next Cycling Sundays are 4 April and 2 May.

Find more information on the Cycle Speke project here.  The project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

Pedal it Pink  Sunday 18 April
Following the success of the 2009 event, Breast Cancer Campaign's Pedal it Pink is returning to Liverpool this April.

Pedal it Pink has a variety of cycle routes to choose from so there is something to suit all abilities.  Beginners can opt for the family 5K lap (which is also open to the men and children in your life) and those wishing to push themselves that little bit further can select either a half (13.1miles) or full (26.2miles) marathon distance.  All routes are completely enclosed within the park, so it's safe, traffic-free and suitable for all existing and aspiring cyclists.

Bike Week is free to enter and open to everyone - you can either take part in an event or organise one yourself, you don't have to be an experienced cyclist either, anyone can set up a Bike Week event.  Further information and how to register your event can be found on the Bike Week website.
