Update - 18th November 2020

The application process on this page is for businesses that have closed due to local restrictions. Liverpool City Council is working with partners to launch a discretionary scheme using additional funds from central government to help businesses that remain open but have been severely impacted by local restrictions. Find out more about the Local Restrictions Support Grant for businesses that remain open on GOV.UK.

Local Restrictions Support Grant

The Local Restrictions Support Grant helps businesses that have had to close due to the government’s national lockdown from 5th November until 2nd December, or if your business has had to remain closed on a national basis since 23rd March.

Businesses that were required to close under Tier 3 restrictions (including pubs not serving main meals, betting shops, casinos, adult gaming centres and soft play areas) from 14th October to 4th November will be entitled to a separate payment for that 3 week period and we will consider this as part of your application.

To qualify for this grant, your business must be in Liverpool and has been:

  • open as usual before the restrictions.
  • providing services in person to customers from the premises.
  • required to close due to restrictions imposed by government.
  • paying business rates for the premises before restrictions started.

Visit GOV.UK for the full list of businesses required to close from 5th November.

Or

Your business has had to remain closed on a national basis since 23rd March. This includes:

  • nightclubs
  • sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars

Your business will not qualify for support under this scheme if it was in administration, insolvent or a striking off order was made at the time local restrictions started.

How much is the grant and when will it be paid?

The amount you get depends on the rateable value of your premises. You will receive support on a rolling 28 day basis for as long as national restrictions apply, as shown below.  Businesses closed for 3 weeks under Tier 3 restrictions between 14th October to 4th November will be entitled to a separate payment, as detailed above.

Rateable value and support amount
Rateable value of premises Grant payment 28 day restriction period
£15,000 or under £1334
£15,001-£50,999 £2000
£51,000 or over £3000

You can find the rateable value of your premises on your latest business rates bill, or check our commercial premises register online.

Do state aid rules apply?

The Local Restrictions Support Grant counts towards state aid. The rules are fully explained in the government state aid guidance. By accepting this grant you must confirm that you are not in breach of these rules.
